Why I built this: Built to make it easier to reconcile typo-prone human-entered spreadsheet data against a cleaner source-of-truth column without needing a heavier data-cleanup workflow.
Overview
Fuzzy Column Match is a lightweight browser utility for reconciling one column of spreadsheet-style data against another. The intended workflow is simple: paste in a source-of-truth column, paste in a noisy or typo-prone input column, and let the app suggest matches based on edit-distance-style similarity.
The project focuses on practical cleanup work rather than complex data tooling. It was designed to be fast, responsive, and easy to use in the browser for one-off reconciliation tasks, especially when human-entered values do not perfectly match the original source data.
Features
- Paste-in workflow for two columns of data
- Matches noisy human input against a truth column
- Edit-distance-style fuzzy matching for typo tolerance
- Useful for spreadsheet cleanup and reconciliation tasks
- Responsive browser-based utility
- Lightweight PWA-style workflow
